Poltergeist is releasing an EP of live tracks, recorded while on tour. These alternative version and new songs give a taste of what you can expect from the musician on stage.
His first album Kämpfer, released in July 2022, was a resounding success, warmly and enthusiastically received by both the press and general public!
Loved by Radio France, supported by specialist music mag Tsugi, the Radio Campus network and RTS in Switzerland (among others), Kämpfer was assuredly a promising start for Poltergeist. After its release, he was the support act for Vitalic during a year of touring, and crowds soon discovered that he was more than capable of playing live and communicating his energy to an audience. Positive feedback kept on coming, and venue after venue the crowds grew to hear Poltergeist play.
Taken from this tour, the Kämpfer Live Tracks EP includes four tracks, two of which are new - Fais ta Loi (the first track of both his live sets and this EP) and Sarragosa.
Fais ta Loi sets the tone: welcome to a dark, heartless world, cold and mechanical, where everyone is their own master and only the strong survive.
Next is a progressive take on Ich bin ein Kämpfer, a hypnotic version that extends to ten minutes, oscillating between rebellious intensity and magnetic loops. Then comes Poltergeist, a track bearing the name of its maker, more saturated than ever. With its heavy, insistent beat, the implacable melody seeps deep into the tortured souls of the creatures of the night.
Saragossa, the last track on the EP and until now only played live, has something disquieting about it. True to his love of darkwave and postwave, Poltergeist shows here that he’s at ease with progression, notably changes of rhythm and mood. Thus, the slow, insidious anxiousness of the track’s first minutes slowly gives way to a wave of revolt and anger.
The musician’s concerts are enveloping, quasi-mystical experiences that now attract crowds from further and further away. Already a promising young producer,
Poltergeist confirms his talents on stage, taking risks and proving that he can leave the studio and confidently adapt his music for live shows.
